Best of 2018 Linky Party

I reviewed my this year’s works and posts carefully and with some curiosity. I picked the ones which were special to me for various reasons.

This, just ending, year was full of a craft made with SCRAPS, either collected by me or given to me. It was also unusual because of personal reasons, so different than for previous years. As for my blog, the number of views reached more than a million, which was a very nice surprise to me.

SCRAPS OF THE SPRING

… by accident

I made this quilt without any plans. It started with making the tulips in a dark winter day. I remember the periods of my life by colors and this one wasn’t bright and nice, but I was trying to find something optimistic.

It’s been made from a scrappy leftovers collected for some time, but after this first picture was made it appeared, that the box was still full of scraps and I wanted to make some more spring flowers…

This quilt has been interesting to many people which obviously delighted me and I have a constant spring in my study 🙂

LAVENDER LANDSCAPE

… by inspiration

I made this picture by literary finding whatever I could, like the abandoned tops, scraps of the fabrics, strings, entangled pieces of the threads etc. It’s been a very nice feeling being led by my fantasy and drew with a needle whatever was born in my mind. It’s been a very positive response from the viewers when I published it.

I’ve been inspired by a book by Wendy Dolan, who I met when visiting the charming Standen estate.

SUMMER HOLIDAY POSTCARDS

…from a common sewing

It’s been yet another time when I was making a postcards for the summer competition. Working on them made me recalling a lot of memories of the past. I’m going to continue this series in the coming year too and I’m thinking about joining them together into a one big work.

When making them I was using even the tiniest scraps of fabrics. The compositions had been usually inspired by a photo pictures I made.

SCRAPPY BIRDS

…by tidying up all the scrappy mess

or the Scrappy garden bird, Scrappy park bird and a Snippet bird.

Those birds were created with a loads of leftover scraps which I’ve been given, and with my imagination of course. It’s such a summer mess framed decently and watched by a lots of people.

WRAPPED WITH OWLS

…from the depth of my heart

This year brought to us a most joyful and happy moment, which was the birth of Ignaś. This quilt was made just for him and it was made with the stored scraps again. Initially I’ve been thinking about a pillow for myself but the amount of this creative material was so big that I decided to do a child wrapper. I strongly recommend such a use for scraps as this makes something absolutely unique for our lovely tiny ones.

In this post I described how it’s possible to sew up a minky fleece to a stuffed top. All of this to wrap a child softly for a warmth, security and love 🙂

By creating this summary I’m participating in the Internet presentation organised by Cheryl. I’m excited in advance about thrilling viewing of many wonderful works made by their respectful Creators. I’m greeting all of them, including Cheryl, which I want to thank for organizing the Linky!

    Do Siego Roku 2019 🙂
