In a Hipster Style

DSC_10561

Initially except the central picture I wanted to use solids only, but… well, how to express what one wants to say?, how to sew feelings in?

I’ve got the panel from Jo, THANKS Jo! Some time passed before I started the job because since I liked the picture itself, the background was not my favorite one. Finally I decided to spoil it and remove the background. The color was the problem, but not only this. Adding frames around it didn’t seem to be a good idea too. I was also considering making t-shirt-like blocks as I’ve seen such works before and usually I liked it a lot. At the end I decided to go my favorite way which was thoughtful improvisation.

Below there are my attempts of making some sense in terms of layout and colors composition.

As a background I used dark grey Kona Charcoal as black one seemed to be too gloomy to me.

The boys from the other side…DSC_07861-003 … and from the front.

This quilt is for my Son given along with wishes of safe return from all the expeditions he undertakes with his Friends of the Beard and not only with them off course. I wish him also that this greatest adventure of all, which is life itself, was the happiest under the sun.

Size: 160 cm x 200 cm.

The name came from my Son’s first reaction: “How hipster it is!” and replaced the working one which was: “The beardy boys”.

Linked to Crazy Mom Quilts – Thanks for coming!

No!
